I've been weight training for about 11 years now, and still learn new things every single day. I've made possibly every mistake there is to make but most importantly I learned from them and over the years my training has become more efficient and effective.

I'm sure a few people reading this will think 'Shit I do that too' and then there will be others who let it pass by them and think they know better. Anyway, a few mistakes I've made over the years....

Lifting for ego. ... This is something I see every single day in the gym. I used to do it too. Load silly weight on the bar and swing it from A to B. Trying to impress somebody. Absolutely no mind muscle connection at all. Concentrate on feeling your muscle contracting every single rep and you will grow.

Doing too much. I remember when I first started I wanted bigger arms. So I had an 'arm day' where I would do 4/5 exercises for biceps and 4/5 for triceps; safe to say my arms didn't grow for years. Smaller muscle groups require less work. Hit biceps and triceps after larger muscle groups, maybe 1 or 2 exercises.

Relying on supplements. For years I was more worried about supplements than actually getting my nutrition right. Taking weight gain shakes full of sugar, creatine, glutamine, protein bars, fat burners. The amount of years I wasted simply by ignoring how much more important good food is than any supplements isn't worth thinking about.

Dirty bulking. Again this was me ignoring how important good food was, and thinking that getting as many calories in me as possible would make me bigger and build muscle. All it done was put on fat, then I would spend 12-15 weeks trying to take it all off again with no real gain in muscle at all. If you're trying to add muscle and 'bulk up' use as much good food as you can. If you struggle to get calories in, make your own weight gain shakes by using porridge oats, protein powder, peanut butter and fruit blended together, all good ingredients and tastes amazing! vintage inspired gowns for mother of the bride

I could go on all day about mistakes I've made, but there's a few for now. I wish I had listened to people giving me advice when I was younger, I thought I knew better and learned the hard way!
